Tamiya - Toyota Supra

The Toyota Supra is a sports car/grand tourer that was produced by Toyota Motor Company from 1979 to 2002. The styling of the Toyota Supra was derived from the Toyota Celica, but it was both longer and wider.Starting in mid-1986, the Supra (in its third generation, MKIII) became its own model and was no longer based on the Celica. In turn, Toyota also stopped using the prefix Celica and began just calling the car Supra. Due to the similarity and past of the Celica's name, it is frequently mistaken for the Toyota Supra, and vice versa.

In 1999, Toyota ceased sales of the Supra in the United States and in 2002 Toyota officially stopped production of the Supra in Japan.

As an iconic sports car, the Supra has appeared in numerous video games, movies, music videos and TV shows. Some of the most notable appearances include the Gran Turismo, Need for Speed, and Midnight Club series of video games and the 2001 film, The Fast and the Furious.

This is a Toyota Supra made by Tamiya in 1/64 scale. Black in colour, it essentuate sexiness of the car.

Tamiya - Esso Ultraflo Supra 2003

"The Toyota Supra is a sports car/grand tourer that was produced by Toyota Motor Company from 1979 to 2002. As an iconic sports car, the Supra has appeared in numerous video games, movies, music videos and TV shows. Some of the most notable appearances include the Gran Turismo, Need for Speed, and Midnight Club series of video games and the 2001 film, The Fast and the Furious.

Production continued in Japan until August 2002, ceasing due to restrictive emission standards to be adhered to by 2003.

Since first appearing in 1995, Toyota has raced the JZA80 Supra as a GT500 race car in the JGTC series. Beginning with a four cylinder 2.1-liter turbocharged 4T-GTE mounted onto a stock bodyshell with wide arch body kit and spoiler.

Over the years, as demands for expensive GT1 race specials became common, the JGTC regulation drifted away from FIA rules, as a result, the Supra has progressively underwent numerous changes over the years, most noticeable, the numerous body changes and by the late 1990s, the Supra used a developed version of the 3SG, which was developed from the IMSA engine and similar to the 3SGTE engine found Toyota Corolla WRC car. By the early 2000s, for the benefit of torque, the Supra moved on to 3UZ-FE V8 engine.

Altogether, the Supra has taken the title four times in 1997, 2001, 2002 and 2005. Despite being out of production since 2002, factory teams continued to use JZA80 Supras with continues successes. The car's swansong competitive year was in 2006, when it was used by Toyota Team Tsuchiya and Toyota Team SARD, since then, the Supra has since being replaced by the Lexus SC" - taken from wikipedia

It is simply a beautiful car, too bad its no longer produced by Toyota.

Tamiya - New Sportscar eXperimental Raybrig

"Not many of us knows that Honda NSX came from the acronym of New Sportscar eXperimental. This car is a continuation of the project between Honda and Italian car designer Pininfarina in year 1984. It was produced between 1990 and 2005 by Honda.

After studying their main competitors such as Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche, Honda engineers designed the NSX in search of the perfect balance between usable power and reliability and thus produced a powerful naturally aspirated VTEC engine suitable for the extreme demands of both road and track.

Honda's breakthrough engineering in the NSX was a major contributor to the design of the McLaren F1 as mentioned in an interview with McLaren F1 designer Gordon Murray (translated from original Japanese into English). "The moment I drove the NSX, all the benchmark cars—Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini—I had been using as references in the development of my car vanished from my mind. Of course the car we would create, the McLaren F1, needed to be faster than the NSX, but the NSX's ride quality and handling would become our new design target." The NSX was marketed as the first "Everyday Supercar" thanks in part to its ease of use, quality and reliability. Murray himself remained an NSX owner for 7 years. "

Tamiya - Daishin Advan Silvia 2003

"The Super GT series, formerly known as the All-Japan Grand Touring Car Championship or JGTC, is a grand touring car race series promoted by the GT-Association (GT-A). The Super GT is authorized directly by FIA.

On December 10, 2004, while the series had been mainly focused on Japanese domestic teams, sponsors and fans, with an ever-rising international fan following and TV coverage shown all over the world it was announced that JGTC would now be called Super GT with the goals of "challenge to the world", "challenge from the world", and "challenge to entertainment".

The cars are divided into two groups: GT500 and GT300 (cars with no more than 500 and 300 horsepower (374 and 224 kW), respectively). These power outputs are capped via the use of intake restrictors although some heavier cars are given allowances to run larger restrictors to maintain parity." quoted from wikipedia.

Did you know that the cars are divided into two categories, GT500 and GT300, and the both GT500 and GT300 groups are run at the same time? But the points are awarded separately for each group. The reason behind it is to maximize excitement for the fans.

GT500 is dominated by mostly top japanese car makers such as Toyota, Nissan and Honda. European car makers such as Ferrari and Aston Martin are also trying to test theirs cars against their japanese counterparts.

Tamiya, in conjuction with the Japan GT Championship, released JGTC diecast for the 2003 championship.
